28 February 2017, Bangkok —Comgrit Sorchom, Thai Union’s Group Director of Environmental, Health and Safety, recently represented the company at a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony for the Thailand Voluntary Emission Trading Scheme (Thailand V-ETS). The event was jointly hosted by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization and the Management System Certification Institute (Thailand). This year, more than 40 pilot plants representing four different industries, including food, ceramics, cement, petrochemical, have joined the project.
“This MOU is a critical step in understanding and agreeing on the importance of establishing environmental targets as an effective tool for combatting climate change,” said Thai Union Group’s Comgrit Sorchom.
Thai Union’s environmental targets are aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent, as well as reducing waste to landfill and water consumption by 20 percent per ton of production by 2020.
