SeaChange® IGNITE

SeaChange® IGNITE is a collaboration between Monterey Bay Aquarium, Chicken of the Sea® and Thai Union to advance new sustainability initiatives and improvements throughout the supply chain and further contribute to Thai Union’s SeaChange® sustainability strategy. This initiative will increase the supply of Seafood Watch recommended products to the North American market. The commitment will focus on improvements throughout Asia and other key seafood producing regions.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch

The Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch® program helps consumers and businesses choose seafood that’s fished or farmed in ways that support a healthy ocean, now and for future generations. Monterey Bay’s recommendations indicate which seafood items are Best Choices or Good Alternatives.

With a mission to inspire conservation of the ocean, the Monterey Bay Aquarium is the most admired aquarium in the United States, a leader in science education and a voice for ocean conservation through comprehensive programs in marine science and public policy. The Aquarium’s Seafood Watch program is part of a comprehensive initiative to improve the sustainability of global fisheries and aquaculture, through policy leadership, scientific research, industry partnerships and consumer engagement. Everything we do works in concert to protect the future of our blue planet. More information at and at

Responsible Aquaculture Commitment

Chicken of the Sea®, in line with their SeaChange® Ignite initiative, has developed a Responsible Aquaculture Commitment that lays out a plan for 100 percent of Chicken of the Sea® branded aquaculture products to meet Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch recommended ratings and certifications as well as social responsibility standards accepted by the Global Seafood Sustainability Initiative (GSSI) or Social Supply Chain Initiative (SSCI) through fully traceable supply chains. Progress towards this commitment is already well established with a goal of 100 percent of this goal achieved by 2025.
